The four quadrants of your mouth: 1. upper right, 2. upper left, 3. lower left, 4. lower right.

For example: lower left (no. 3), 1st premolar (no. 4) means: in your lower jaw, on your left hand side, the 4th tooth from the central incisor. Its no. 34, i.e. 1st digit is no. 3 means the lower left, 2nd digit is no. 4 means 1st premolar.
